"A bedroom designed with care becomes a daily ritual a space you look forward to returning to at the end of every day."
We spend roughly a third of our lives in the bedroom yet it is often one of the last rooms homeowners invest serious design attention in. At Entrust, we argue that the bedroom deserves to be the most carefully designed space in your home. It is where you begin and end every day, and the quality of that environment has a measurable impact on your sleep, your mood, and your overall sense of wellbeing. Here is how we approach bedroom design to achieve spaces of genuine rest and understated luxury.
The bed is, unquestionably, the centrepiece of any bedroom. Its position, size, and treatment set the tone for every other design decision in the space. At Entrust, we always recommend placing the bed on the wall furthest from the door, centred between bedside tables, with a clear visual landing zone created by an upholstered headboard or a thoughtfully designed feature wall. An upholstered, floor-to-ceiling headboard is one of the most transformative single investments you can make in a bedroom it adds softness, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of considered luxury.
Colour psychology plays a real role in sleep quality. Bedrooms benefit most from soft, muted, and cool tones dusty blues, sage greens, warm taupes, and soft lavenders have all been shown to promote relaxation. Avoid highly saturated, stimulating colours in the bedroom, particularly on large surfaces. At Entrust, we typically recommend a single enveloping colour for the bedroom applied to walls, curtains, and upholstery in the same tonal family to create a cocoon-like effect that signals to the brain that it is time to slow down.
Lighting in the bedroom serves two very different functions at different times of day, and both need to be addressed. During the day, natural light should be welcomed sheer curtains allow diffused daylight in while maintaining privacy. At night, blackout lining on your curtains or blinds is essential for deep, uninterrupted sleep. For artificial lighting, warm-toned bulbs (2700K–3000K) in wall-mounted reading lights, bedside pendants, and concealed strip lighting create a relaxing atmosphere. Avoid bright overhead lighting in the evening, as it suppresses melatonin production and interferes with sleep onset.

Entrust Design Team
A bedroom that lacks adequate, well-organised storage will always feel unsettled no matter how beautiful the remaining design. At Entrust, we design custom wardrobe systems for every bedroom we work on, built around the specific storage needs of each client. This means considering hanging lengths for different garment types, drawer depths for folded items, dedicated compartments for shoes, jewellery, and accessories, and integrated charging solutions for personal devices. When your wardrobe works effortlessly, the rest of the bedroom can remain serene.
